This shade-grown green tea is hand-picked and meticulously processed, resulting in a tea with an incredibly rich and umami flavor. Imagine the smooth and velvety texture of gyokuro green tea, bursting with umami flavor and a hint of sweetness. This tea is considered a delicacy in Japan and is best enjoyed slowly to appreciate its full flavor profile.
A superior quality Japanese green tea reserved for honored guests and visitors. Gyokuro differs from the ever popular Sencha tea in that it is grown exclusively in the shade and produces a much darker richer hued leaf. The color of both the leaf of the tea itself as well as the depth of color in the final brewed elixir are more than likely what lead to it being used in Japanese tea ceremonies in the form of "matcha".

Steeping Instructions
Green Tea Brewing Instructions
Unlock the delicate flavors of green tea with these simple steps:
- Heat water to 175-180°F (not quite boiling).** A kettle with a temperature setting is ideal for green tea.
- Pour hot water over green tea leaves (1-2 teaspoons per 8 oz water) in a teapot or infuser.
- Cover and steep for 2-3 minutes. Green tea should not be over-steeped, as it can become bitter.
- Strain and enjoy! Green tea is traditionally enjoyed without milk or sugar.
- For a milder cup, use less tea or a shorter steeping time.
- High-quality green tea leaves from The Spice Hut will result in a more flavorful and delicate brew.
- Consider using a tea timer to ensure precise steeping times, especially for green tea which can become bitter if over-steeped.
