Bath Bombs

Ingredients and Materials:

  • 8 oz. baking soda
  • 4 oz. Epsom salt
  • 4 oz. corn starch
  • 4 oz. citric acid (hyperlink to amazon)
  • Large bowl
  • Whisk
  • Biodegradable glitter or dried flower petals (optional)
  • 5 tablespoons coconut oil (or any other veggie oil)
  • About 1 tablespoon water
  • About 2 teaspoons essential oil (for scent)
  • 4-6 drops of food coloring
  • Small jar or bowl
  • 12-18 silicone molds (hyperlink to amazon)

Instructions:

  1. Whisk the dry ingredients (baking soda, Epsom salt, corn starch, and citric acid) together in a large bowl. This is the time to add lavender or rose petals into the mix. Try to stick to biodegradable things and/or plants to keep the ocean clean.
  2. Whisk the wet ingredients (oil, water, essential oil, and food coloring). Keep smell-checking to see if you want to add more essential oil.
  3. Slowly add the liquid to the dry mixture just a teaspoon at a time. Continuously whisk it, and wait a second if things start to fizz. The final mixture should look like damp sand.
  4. Pack the mix into the silicone molds as quickly as possible, so the sand doesn’t dry out before shaped.
  5. Leave the bombs to dry in the mold for a full day.
  6. Save them for yourself, or bring some love to your lonely friends by putting the bombs in cute little decorative cellophane bags with ribbon and stuff. Ah. So cute.

Facial Steam (FOR YOU)

Ingredients and Materials:

  • Large bowl
  • Pot or kettle
  • Water
  • Rose petals
  • Essential oil and herb combo
    • For complexion/acne and sensitive skin
      • 1 tsp. chamomile
      • ½ tsp. cinnamon
      • ½ tsp. whole or ¼ tsp. ground turmeric
      • 3-5 drops tea tree oil
    • For wrinkles and dry skin
      • 1 tsp. dried ginger root
      • 1 tsp. dried lemon peel
      • 1 tsp. rosemary
      • 3-5 drops rosehip oil
    • Towel
    • Timer or stopwatch
    • Headband (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Boil 8 cups water.
  2. While that is boiling, put your oil/herb combo in a large bowl.
  3. If your hair is in your face, pull it back or put a headband on to fully expose your skin.
  4. Once boiled, pour the water slowly and directly over the mix.
  5. Set a timer for 5 minutes, and immediately place your face over the bowl about 12 inches away.
  6. Put a large towel over the back of your head to trap the steam in (get fresh air occasionally if you need to).
  7. When the timer goes off, remove the towel and allow your face to dry naturally. This way, your skin soaks up all that good stuff. Oh. You’ll be just glowing.

Facial Steam (FOR THEM)

If you’re making a steam kit for your friends, simply put an herb combo into a small cellophane bag, drop the oil on top so they can soak it up, then tie or seal the bag! Copy/paste and print the instructions tag below. Cut it out along the lines and hole punch the circle at the top. Weave a ribbon through the hole to tie the bag off. Then, they have everything they need! Who needs a boyfriend on Valentine’s Day when you can have radiant skin? Um, I think no one.

Popcorn with Spice Mix and Lovestruck Tea

This one’s pretty self-explanatory. Pop some delicious popcorn (from scratch preferably). In the meantime, steep your Lovestruck tea. When the corn is popped, drizzle a couple tablespoons of melted coconut oil over the top and stir it up. Shake 2-3 tablespoons of your fave spice mix over the top and mix again. My favorites are Taco Seasoning, Red Pepper & Garlic, and Creole Seasoning. The oil will help it stick. Pour your tea, snuggle up, and watch The Holiday because Jude Law…obviously.

If you’re gifting this, perfect! You can use cellophane bags or a 12-ounce ball jar for the popcorn kernels with a snack insert for the seasoning if you want to get fancy. Filling both will make 2 or 3 batches of spiced popcorn. If you’re bagging, just make sure you bag the kernels and spices separately. Give each person as much spice as you want, just also be sure that it corresponds with the servings of popcorn you gave them. You can even attach a little Lovestruck tea if you’re the BEST friend. If you want, copy/paste and print the instructions tag below. Cut it out along the lines and hole punch the circle at the top. Weave a ribbon through the hole to tie the bag off.
